Meditation of the day - December 6, 2018

The affairs of life!

2 Timothy 2.4 - There is no soldier who is bothered with the affairs of life, if he wants to please the one who enlisted him.

Day after day, our heart is the battlefield of a fierce fight: one between the worries of life and the Word of God! If we refer to the parable of the sower, the worries of life are one of the main causes of the unproductivity of the Word of God in our life. In fact, worries and the Word of God do not know how to live together, it is one or the other who will take over! In the line of our verse of the day, the one who embarks on these things does not please God who has called him!

The worries of the century come like a surf. The goal is to provoke worry in us. Anxiety creates in us a feeling of insecurity and this feeling pushes us to dissatisfaction and discontent: it is what has "lost" the people of Israel in the desert. Negative thoughts go back and forth in our heart stifling the creative Word of God. How to react to this?

The important thing is to implement what is within our reach! Paul says, "If anyone does not want to work, let him not eat either" (2 Thessalonians 3:10). It is up to us to make the necessary efforts to meet our needs by avoiding the debt trap (compare Habakuk 2.6 and 7).

Now, there are things that are beyond our reach and far beyond us. To devote our thought to it will serve no purpose except to sink us into the marasms of fear. Let's focus our heart on the promises of the Word of God and the person of God Himself! He is not a man to lie and He will fulfill his promises to us in his time. Let us keep our eyes fixed on our Lord by applying these words of Paul: "Do not worry about anything; but in all things make your needs known to God by prayers and supplications, with thanksgiving. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will keep your hearts and your thoughts in Jesus Christ "(Philippians 4,6 and 7).

Good reflection.
