Meditation of the day - November 14, 2018

The height of the soul!

Matthew 24.9 – Then they will hand you over to tribulation, and will put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name.

Christians have always been persecuted and put to death because of their faith. In the middle of the second century, there was already a church in Lyon. In this church there was a slave named Blandine. She was arrested with 47 other Christians, they were all tortured to abjure their faith in Christ and eventually they all died as martyrs.

What is special about Blandine is that she was exposed to ferocious beasts which, like the experience of the prophet Daniel, did him no harm. Despite this miracle, her torturers continued to torture her, but her only words were: "We are Christians, we do nothing wrong! ". Finally she was alone with a 15-year-old boy. He was also put to death before his eyes, but she still found the courage to strengthen him in this terrible moment. She herself was exposed to an untamed bull who, with unheard-of fury, stomped on her, but she did not seem to suffer and let out only a prayer. We end up slaughtering him.

Paul told us that God chose the weak things of the world to confound the strong (1 Corinthians 1:27). The testimony of this young boy and woman has passed through the centuries to come and tell us: "Your true greatness is in your redeemed soul, do not let it be debased by anything! ".

My beloved ones, many of us are not yet victims of this hatred. Do not let ease and ease enslave us. Let's not let the spirit of the world tie us up with compromises. Why should we lose our greatness of soul? Why would we despise the price the Savior paid to redeem it? Let us not wait for torment to rise up against the tyrant by wresting from his claws those who do not yet know the Lord of mercy!

Good reflection.
