The preaching of the cross!

Matthew 4.17 – From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

The Lord Jesus had just come out of the desert of "temptation" and He was filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. What was his first sermon based on? On repentance! Today, we have a very wide range of sermons of all kinds: sanctification, exhortation, inner healing, success, words of faith ... I do not want to minimize the impact of these sermons but I think we sometimes spend side of the goal.

My thought is: what is the essence of preaching revival? The history of the Church shows us that strong revivals had both common denominators: a return to prayer and the preaching of the cross! Moreover, Paul confirms this by saying: "For the preaching of the cross is foolishness to those who perish; but for us who are saved, she is a power of God "(1 Corinthians 1:18). The power of God will always accompany the preaching of the cross, and we can see in the following of Matthew's story that many miracles occurred through the ministry of Jesus.

What is the preaching of the cross? It encompasses everything Jesus did on the cross! The forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God, justification by faith, the healing of our bodies, the deliverance of evil spirits ... Yes my beloved ones, the preaching of the cross is the power of God for us.

Let's get rid of the desire to please our listeners. If this preaching is disturbing, considered a folly, it remains the priority of the will of God. If we want to see the people of God change, be transformed from glory to glory by the action of the Holy Spirit, we must return to this simple but so effective message.

Good reflection.
